When Johnny Sins goes on a Hunger Strike😃: The Quest for Gender Equality in Adult Industry

Lights, Camera, Hunger Strike!

If you’re unfamiliar with Johnny Sins, you are a kind soul and I apologize for polluting your mind. He is a plumber and a taxi driver, a pool cleaner and a rich businessman, your passionate lover or a stranger next door. In essence, he is more powerful than the Superman.

Nevertheless, in an unexpected twist in the gender equality discourse, Johnny Sins has announced a “fast-unto-death” hunger strike. The reason — he demands equal pay as compared to the leading female performers.

Mr. Sins, while sitting outside the US Capitol building with a banner that says “Equal Work = Equal Pay”, voiced his grievances in the following fashion:

“I put in just as much effort and work the same hours as our female counterparts, yet I receive only 20% of their pay. This is a profound injustice against my talent, dedication and hard work.

While the world passionately debates female atrocities and pay gap, why nobody talks about “Equal pay for Equal work” in my case?

If you don’t pay us at all, I would have considered my work as a service to all the frustrated people of our nation. But if I am paid, I demand equal pay as per the rights vested into me by the “Equal Pay Act of 1963”.

His voice was now gaining momentum, and a host of other male performers from adult industry joined the same with flags and drum rolls.

Mr. Sins continued to state his demand,

“Our fight is not solely about equal pay. We also demand equal recognition.

Why isn’t my name featured prominently in movie titles, but only the female stars?

We also insist that movie directors pay equal attention to our bodies as they do to our female counterparts. We spend hours sculpting perfect abs and jawlines, yet the 4k cameras only seem to focus solely on the female performers. It’s as if we’re present in scenes yet invisible to everyone! Nobody even looks at us.

Even after having worked an entire lifetime in this industry, all people recognizes me as the bald guy who sometimes plays a plumber , sometimes a doctor, and sometimes even a taxi driver.

Tell me, and tell me all, has any female performer shown such variety in her characters?”

Mr. Sins had caught the nerves of all the other male performers who erupted in unanimous cheers. “Yes, we demand equal recognition!”, said someone from the crowd whose face kind of looked familiar but I don’t ever bothered to know his name.

What started of as a simple protest, was now a nationwide movement as a significant number of OnlyFans male content creators also joined, and expressed similar concern.

“We too receive a fraction as compared to female models.

It’s time for America and the world to recognize our contributions and provide us with our equal and rightful compensation.”

Seeing so much support behind him, Mr. Sins face exuberated confidence that you would not even see in any of his performances. Hence, he began increasing his demands —

“We have decided to establish a Men’s Club that will advocate for the rights of all oppressed males in the adult industry.

Once, we went on strike hoping it would force movie producers to yield, but they replaced us with mere toys, and the audience seemed to enjoy even more. Are we reduced to being nothing more than pulsating toys in the industry?

Thus, after losing all hope, we have turned to our government, demanding legislation that grants male performers the same recognition, pay, and title credits as their female counterparts.”

As the protest continued, Johnny, with a new found revolutionary fervor, delivered a concluding statement:

“I have a dream.

I have a dream that one day this industry will rise up and acknowledge these self-evident truths — that all men and women are created equal.

I have a dream that one day, every adult performer…”

Just as this dream speech was unfolding, two male government officials were discussing at safe distance,

“While these male performers have been sitting here for days, the adult industry has not even noticed their absence and his producing content like before.

We can’t disrupt an entire industry just for the sake of equal rights for someone whose name we don’t even know. They’re merely supporting actors. Who even watches them?

Instruct the police to disperse them and clear the area.”

And in no time, the cops arrived at the site and the familiar looking faces disappeared. The best laid plans of Sins and company went awry.

Watching this entire tale unfold from a distance was a Silent Monk, and is deeply analyzing the entire gender equality debate. However unfortunate it may sound, but the demands of Mr. Sins and Co. did not make economic sense. While both male and female performers put in equal work, the pull of masses is different for both.

He realized where the gender equality debate had gone astray. There shall always be workplaces where female counterparts will dominate the male counterparts, and vice versa too.

Notwithstanding the fact that certain corporations and governments purposefully support inadequate female representation and lower pay structure (which must be strongly condemned and prevented), the fact also remains that we as a society view men and women very differently and have stereotyped them into certain role types. Unless that changes, the gender pay disparity shall, unfortunately, continue to remain.
