Here’s Why Every Single Act of Kindness in the World Matters— However Small it Might Be!

When the mirror on the wall asked me a very personal question 😲!

There is a mirror on my wall that often asks me very mean questions — the questions that are personal, the questions that often create a self doubt, and the questions that no one ever dares to ask! These are the questions which I should be asking myself, but because I fail to do so — the mean mirror does that to me without any sugarcoating.

One day when I was writing this article, the mirror looked at me with my own reflection and asked —

Monk, why do you always write about positivity, about kindness, and about gratitude?

For every person that wants to spread the message of love and kindness, there is a world standing against you. Not only that they will not support you, but rather they will do everything in their capacity to pull you back. The world did not even spare gods, when they came to Earth to spread this message.

When you write about love and kindness, neither you get views nor you get any money. You can earn better if you write an occasional rant or a hate article such as — “9 reasons why I hate Elon Musk and you should too!” or “Why I want Donald Trump to lose the election and you should too!”

And just tell me one simple thing — do you really think that you or anyone who believes in these values is able to make a difference? What is it that you even intend to achieve with such feel good stories?

There was some harsh truth in what the mirror said to me. It is a question that I had often asked myself, but without any answer. Not many are interested in reading kind posts, and any mediocre rant would always garner more views than a well-written kind post.

The Silent Monk really began to wonder why does he at all write what he writes, when the reality is often very different from what is portrayed in his good vibes articles.

But just as he was thinking, a smile came to his face. He finally found the answer he had been looking for so long. He looked back at the mirror and said —

My dear Mirror,

I have realised that I write all these articles not for anyone else but for my own self!

Imagine there is a huge lake and I go and put a glass of milk in it. The lake is not going to turn to milk. But I have a belief that atleast its color would definitely change howsoever small. Even if the color does not change, The Silent Monk would have some satisfaction that atleast he had done his part while on Earth.

Often our efforts of love, gratitude and kindness are nothing but just a small glass of milk in a huge lake. If after reading my articles, even if one person acts out of kindness, at only one particular instance in his/her entire life — all my efforts would be worth it 😃!

I feel that I am not writing this for anyone else but for myself. I write what I needed to read in my darkest times!

And let me tell you my dear mirror, I am not alone! There are many stupid folks like me who are constantly spreading the message of love and kindness! If you don’t trust me, go check out Trisha Faye’s Good Vibes Club and Ali Hall’s Spread the Ripple. These publications shall restore your faith in humanity!”

The mirror got the answer it was looking for, and The Silent Monk went back to writing his article about why every act of kindness in the world matters!

Even if a kind act of yours does not do good to anyone else, it is doing good to you, and that is a strong enough reason to remain kind!
