God Himself came to my dream and I asked him this stupid question! (#2 of 10)

“Am I going to Hell?”

God always fulfils his promise. And as He promised, He came to my dream for me to ask yet another stupid question. I bowed before him, and asked this question —

“Dear God, am I going to hell?”

I have sinned, may be a bit too much.

I get very scared hearing the numerous descriptions of hell. Will I burn in the unquenchable fire? Or my body be torn apart for all the thefts I have committed?

And I have not come across a single human being who has not sinned. Does this mean we are all going to Hell?

God, as He always does, smiled in the most pleasant manner and replied with the most soothing words:

My dearest Monk,

Sometimes, you think way too ahead!

You don’t have to wait for death to tell you whether you are going to Hell or Heaven. Before death evaluates all your deeds, Life will do its part!

Remember, Life on Earth itself can be an equivalent of Heaven or Hell based upon how we act.

Anger, Lust and Greed are the three gateways that can lead you to Hell. If anyone’s life is governed by these three emotions, they do not have to wait for Death to experience Hell. Life itself will become equivalent to Hell.

God said some of the most thought provoking words, and then accompanied with a smile at the end. He did not answer my question, but offered something more valuable. By the time He stopped speaking, I was shocked and still trying to understand the gravity of what has just been said. Was I wrong all along the way? All my beliefs and thoughts had been shaken with that one particular conversation.

Gathering myself together, I followed up with a lot of curiosity — But how do I know if I am living in Hell or Heaven while still being on Earth?

Your mind is the answer, My Dearest Monk!

A person holding on to anger, will always think he is causing harm to others, but is instead hurting himself more than the other.

A person under the influence of lust (which can be for anything) will always be looking for instant gratification, and will eventually become a slave to his/her own lust.

And a greedy person, whatever he/she may achieve, it will still never be enough to bring peace.

Anyone who is a slave of any of these emotions, will always have a restless mind, be continuously struggling and never able to achieve eternal happiness. It will inflict within you a mental pain, and your life on Earth will be equivalent of Hell.

Are you still worried about all the physical pain in Hell after Death?

I was still in deep thoughts and ruminating over this conversation, when I heard my 4 A.M. alarm clock ringing in the background. It was time for me to wake up and get back to my writing duty. But I think I had got my answer — God always answers all our questions.

But as I was about to wake up, I asked this — Can I bring two of my friends for our next conversation? They have a question they would like to ask.

My Dearest Monk, you really know how to stretch the boundaries!

I know whom you want to bring and what their question is going to be!

I will meet them, but before we reach there —Can you bring a friend of mine to our conversation next time?

She is among the most beautiful human beings, and very dear to me — but is apparently very angry with me, and ashamed of herself.

She is not talking to me these days but I wish to talk to her!

With this the alarm rang so loud that I woke up! But I had more questions than answers this time. Who is she, that is so dear to God? I guess we shall see when that happens — God is anyway known to keep his promises.

In the meantime, I will do what has been assigned to me and write an article today.
