Who created God and why it is such a good thing?

During my childhood, I once met an old lady, and she explained to me how God came into existence. She very vividly explained that during olden times, philosophers used to think that who created this world, and each and everything within this world. Who is the creator of Sun, moon and all the stars? Plants, animals and human beings? There has to be some force that created all of this. It is this force or super human power that philosophers named as “GOD”.

What she said made perfect sense to me, and I was amazed at her knowledge. She explained that this hypothesis has also been mentioned in some of the very old scriptures of Eastern world.

Although I was a small child back then and did not have sufficient knowledge or reasoning ability — but even if I recall this conversation today, I do not have any reason or argument to believe that what she is saying is not correct.

With the passage of time, different people visualized the concept of God in different forms and images — some visualized God as an infinite source of light, while others considered the most noble human being to be equivalent to God. As different civilizations developed, each of them continued to worship God as per their beliefs and visualization — such practices eventually transforming into present day religion.

Now, if we go summarize our discussion so far — if the early age philosophers conceptualized God, and different civilizations gave the form and shape to God — does this mean that human beings created God?

Could it be possible that God is created by human beings themselves, and that God is a part of our own energy.

That human beings created God — even if I want to refute this hypothesis — I cannot come up with any reason/argument against this.

For me personally, I never knew there can be no “GOD”.

Since my childhood, the concept of God has been taught to us — and this is the case with almost every individual. We are taught to believe in this whole heartedly, and challenging it rarely comes to our mind.

Why do we need God, and why it is such a beautiful concept?

On a personal level, I cannot care less about who created God — for a very simple reason — that it is a beautiful concept. We often need God, in the times of adversities. Praying to God gives us hope to overcome all the difficult circumstances. Even when I am not prepared or capable enough to overcome the situation — prayer and belief in God gives me confidence that everything is going to turn out just fine.

Even if there is no superpower, and the concept of God has been created just to give humanity hope during the times of adversities, I would gladly take it. Besides, belief in God helps us to fight evils that are much stronger than ourselves.

If there is no God, and we are made to forget this concept, whom should we trust during adversities?

The outcome is that I am a firm believer of God, just like billions of people on this planet — and it truly has been a blessing.
