God Himself came to my dream and I asked him this stupid question! (#1 of 10)
“Why do you give me so much grief?”
God himself came to my dream! I bowed before him, and asked this very stupid question— “Why do you give me so much grief?”.
God, with his ever glowing face and an ever radiant smile, replied in the most soothing words:
My dearest Monk,
I knew you would ask this question!
Have you ever been to a derby event? There are hundreds and hundreds of horses staged in a line. The moment the race starts, the jockey begins to whip the horse. As long as the race continues, the jockey keeps whipping so that the horse stays within the course and reaches his destination in the shortest possible time. When the race ends — the glory all belongs to the horse.
Throughout the entire race, the horse had no idea what he was doing, why he was being whipped, and what lies at the end of the race.
Life is nothing but a long derby race, where you are the horse and I am the one guiding you. I often whip you with grief and difficulties, only to make sure that you do not stray from the path of righteousness. Remember, no obstacle or difficulty is ever meant to harm you. I never give you more grief than what you cannot handle!
You question me throughout, only because you don’t see what lies on the other side of the finishing line. Trust me when I say that there are a few things which I can see but you can not!
The universe has a plan for you — and all the griefs, heartbreaks, difficulties are nothing but a part of it.
I had a silent smile on my face, and all my doubts had vanished. But the stupid inquisitive monk prodded further, “Can I ask you a follow up question, please?”
God replied in the same pleasing demeanor —
My dearest Monk,
I know more about you than you know about yourself. You have not one but nine more questions! I will answer eight of those, and leave the last one for you to find out yourself.
But now is not the time for it. I will come back when the time is right. Besides, its already 4 A.M. and you have an article to write. So please get up and do the task that has been assigned to you.
With those last words, I heard my alarm clock ring 4 A.M. I woke up and went ahead with my morning routine.
I wonder when GOD is going to come back for the remaining questions, and what the stupid monk is going to ask?
